The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
The book started out slow, with Ms. Stiefvater giving us a lot of information about ley lines, psychics, and Welsh mythology as she develops her characters. The plot picks up, once the author introduces her very original spins to these banal paranormal topics.
I fell in love with the main female character, Blue Sargent, and her whole "family" of misfits. Each member is a unique character encouraging individuality. The boys didn't impress me as much; I found myself somewhat annoyed by them but, in real life, I usually find myself annoyed by (wealthy) boys so this made for realistic characters.
Ms. Stiefvater left us hanging at the end of the book, with a lot of questions unanswered. I find myself eagerly awaiting the release of the second book in the Raven Cycle series!
I received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads.
