To quote the 14th Dalai Lama: "There is no need for temples, no need for complicated philosophies. My brain and my heart are my temples; my philosophy is kindness."
Both Hinduism and Science teach that, in order to better understand the universe, I must first observe it.
Homosexuality has been argued against for a long time. I look around and what do I see?
Need a clue? You may want to refer to this article on wikipedia about Homosexual Behavior in Animals.
I see that homosexuality exists in many different kinds of creatures. Some creatures - garter snakes and squid - may use it as a means to better their own chances at procreating with females and/or as a defense mechanism against larger males.
And all of this is homosexual behavior that has been documented in recent years. As far back as humans can remember, homosexuality has existed.
Observation: God/Goddess/Energy has used homosexuality in His/Her/It's creations - not once or twice but several times.
According to Wikipedia's article on Extinction (who based this on figures from Cornell University): "it is estimated that 99.9% of all species that have ever existed are now extinct." (I've seen some sources claim 99.9999% as the actual percentage of extinct species).
Only 1% of all life that has ever existed is alive today.
God/Goddess/Energy clearly has the ability to wipe out whatever He/She/It wants - so why does homosexuality exist, if not for some purpose?
Think about the 1% that is still alive - how many different kinds of trees can you name? Birds? Flowers? Insects?
I can deduce one thing about the nature of God/Goddess/Energy: God/Goddess/Energy clearly likes variety.
We can see another example of this observation just by looking at humans - how many hair, eye, and skin colors exist in humans? What about shapes and sizes?
I repeat, God/Goddess/Energy clearly likes variety.
Now, let's think about this:
- on one hand, there are anti-homosexual groups who say that only heterosexual relationships are right.
- On the other hand, there are pro-LGBT groups who support Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender relationships, as well as Heterosexual relationships.
"For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7 (ESV)
