Richard Laymon wrote a book called Bite. It wasn't his best book -may his soul rest in peace- but I did like one particular quote, mostly because of my own experience with surgical (and emotional) scars left from my battles with Endometriosis:
"But still, I liked the scars . . . because they belonged to her, like her freckles or the color of her eyes.
They weren't ugly.
They were like secrets written in magic ink that could only be seen when the light was just right."
